Postscript

In 70 AD which was about 40 years later the Romans invaded Israel and took over totally. They claimed the temple and desecrated it by putting a bust of Caesar in the holy of holies. If you read the famous historian Josephus on Israel of that period the description of the war is very much the same as the language used by Jesus in these gospels. The metaphors are similar. When Jesus said the kingdom of heaven will come when these apocalyptic revelation comes true he meant within a generation and it was so. In the acts of the gospels there is description of the Pentecost, he comes as a flash of lightening. Neither in this room or the next, neither in this country or the next, but as spirit power. That was the beginning of the Kingdom of Heaven, and the end of the rule of the Prince of this world. Now, so many centuries later it would seem as if to have proven true. The world is very developed and the people of this earth have matured considerably, the poor are being fed, hospitals are everywhere, and we have very many social institutions to take care of the many disabled of the society. Christianity is the largest religion on earth and has almost 2 billion adherents. He is still in the Heaven's watching over his devotees and casting out demons. He is still there at the 'right hand of the Father' watching over Israel.

Apart from the style of prayers that he taught the initiation given here as part of the Secret Gospel of Mark, that Lazarus was given was most surely an introduction to the knowledge of God and prayer as Jesus knew it. To be given the holy spirit in such a way means to be guided in the great knowledge of the most subtle aspects of God and man's own consciousness or being and to receive the spirit which empowers it. The methods used in the Eastern Orthodox church still today are similar the methods used in his time. This is called the Hesycast way and usually a spiritual father (or mother) - a startzy - is required to pursue this path. Any of the Aramaic phrases in these gospels which are of cosmic significance can be used as a root prayer in this method, not just the Keirie Eleaison.
